Here we put together the most frequently asked question regarding topics as training or cost.


What actually is an arrowcopter?

The Arrowcopter or Gyrocopter as it’s sometimes called is an aircraft with a horizontal rotor for the lift and vertical propeller for propulsion. It’s actually a mixture between an airplane and a helicopter. So-called Gyroplanes or Autogyros are the predecessors of today’s helicopters and were developed between the world wars.


How and where can I learn to fly an Arrowcopter?

We recommend WINGS Aviation School. The training is held throughout the whole year in Medina-Sidonia, southern Spain. The final exams in theory and practice will be conducted by the DULV (German Ultralight Association) and once successfully passed you will receive your license that complies with all requirements. At this moment there is no possibility for training in Austria.

Is the Arrowcopter licensed?

Yes, it’s licensed with section T by EAS/BAZL.
For more detailed information in respect of matriculation/purchase, or a more efficient and faster way through admission (OE-XXX), please do not hesitate to contact us. Currently the arrowcopter can only be operated with a HB-YXX (MTOW 450kg) or OE-XXX (MTOW 450 kg) matriculation and an experimental status in Switzerland.


What kind of license do I need to fly an Arrowcopter?

- PPL (A), or PPL (H), or R-PPL (A), or R-PPL (H), or higher license
- gyrocopter license from DULV (German Ultralight Association) or DAEC (German Aero Club)
- Voice


What is the price for an arrowcopter?

The price depends on the individual equipment and is about 80.000€, excluding theoretical and practical introduction to the vessel, or air transportation to the country in question. Financing is possible, please also read the following point: Are there possibilities for financing?


Are there possibilities for financing?

Yes! We are cooperating with partners who will gladly grant financiering, after positive credit investigation of the client. Another possibility is to gather several clients from the same area with a view to organise a joint purchase. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will take care.


How long is the approximate delivery period?

The Arrowcopter will probably be delivered in Austria from the 2nd quarter of 2010. Delivery will take approximately 2-3 months after receiving the order from the client. Importation and air transport handled by WINGS.


Where can I get my arrowcopter serviced?

Basically it’s common practice that Arrowcopters in the experimental-class are maintained by the owner or constructor. On request servicing can be done in Austria or Spain by our partners (licensed aviation mechanics/ companies). Maintenance intervals are to be taken from the operating manual, or from the appropriate authorities.

Is it possible to visit the factory?

Yes, guided visits of the factory and its premises are held 2-4 times per year by the manufacturer “FD-Composites/Arrowcopter” in Austria. WINGS organizes these trips for interested clients and the expenses will be refunded on the signing of a binding bill of sale.
